hmm

i've gotta say, when i saw this on the rock charts i thought to myself "great, someone killed a great zeppelin song and threw it on the internet." needless to say, i was very pleasantly surprised! fantastic instrumentals (guitarist rocked that solo, as mentioned below), and it was pretty cool to hear a woman doing justice to plant's work. definitely will be checking out your other stuff.

also, i must ask; what nationality is your singer? i love the "flare" given to the vocals by the accent.

awesome work, guys.

Hello!

thank you very much for your review, we/ I am very honoured:),
we want to make it big;) I am originally from Ukraine, but we live in Austria and have a big passion for classic rock, hardrock and progressive rock

you are very welcome to check out our site www.myspace.com/dariarock and I'm also singing in another group - UNITED -> hardrock : www-united-rock.at.tf

best greetings from Vienna and ROCK ON ;) :)

very nice cover

nice, jammy piece. i really enjoyed how the main guitar was just chugging away in the the "less-is-more" style, leaving the leads to the synth - the chords in the background really set it off and gave it that extra bit of atmosphere, so good job on that. the drums could have some fills / tom runs, but the standard hi-hat / double bass / snare combo really did well here.

good job on this one. 5/5

I'll have to side with Jesse...

...at the expense of my review being marked "unuseful" or "abusive," simply because 500,000 other people who've downloaded this disagree with my opinion.

Really, what warrants this such a high score? The fact that it's a Zelda tune, or the fact that it's improperly marked under Heavy Metal? Generic Rock mix at best, for one.

Secondly now, listen to the mix. As Jesse stated, this is merely a Zelda II MIDI processed through GarageBand with nasty mixing skill, as well as a default-o drum line. Nothing really impressive.

Now don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it all the same, I just don't see what the big deal is. The mix is horrible and the fake guitar samples are disgusting. I guess people will eat whatever they're given, though, even though I guarantee a good majority of the people who've downloaded this have not played Zelda II, much less enjoyed it.

To each their own, I guess.

oh wow

very classy. nice, pumped-up theme that, as mentioned, could easily be used for really any rpg. i could easily see it being an epic-style boss battle theme, or even as the game's token badass-baddie theme (i instantly thought ghaleon from lunar). personally i could have done without the guitar solo, but it's nothing that takes away from the piece at all :)

very nice! 5/5

Fantasmagoria

Good as usual. Love the gritty sound of the centered guitar coupled in contrast with the "uplifting" tone of the phasered guitar; it works really well.

Nice, atchy riffs with a simple rhythm and just the right amount of synth make this one a winner in my book. Hell, you don't need me to sit here and mindlessly compliment you - you know it's good ;)

i lol'd

In a good way, of course. Nice happy hardcore remix, man. Makes me wanna get pissed off at the Chocobos on FFVII all over again...

Not much else to say - it's happy, it's hardcore, it's a remix. Good job with this. 5/5 10/10

haha, alright. I'm adding more leads to make it sound full =P

Good shit

Why's this got such a low score? It's a pretty nice little groovy jazzish jig. Loved the sound of the bass guitar, and the transition from slow, mellow acoustic to hyperactive electric riffs (programmed?), all wrapped up by a nice little solo at the end. In short, great song man; ignore the zero-bombers...

Cornilious responds:

Gotta love zero bombers...
Anyway, bass guitar is programmed (unfortunately). There are no synths or anything like that in this one, all recorded guitar tracks with some help from equalization (etc.).
Thanks for the review! I really appreciate it!

I have a couple of these myself...

...and I must say, excellent utilization of the pre-rendered loops. Boasts a pretty groovy blend of some dance synth nicely mixed with "funky" or "groovy" orchestral instrumentation. Good job.

xregnarpurex responds:

thanks:) I never thought anybody would actually like this... xD, I mean, I DO have this song on my ipod, but i'm glad someone other than me appreciated it. thanks for the review.

Full of Win

Could very easily see this being used in a game (particularly something along the lines of Final Fantasy), or in some form of CGI movie. As it is a short number, there's no chance for anything to drone on or get to sounding too repetitious; it's just, well, perfect.

The orchestral composition gives it a great "epic" feel, sufficiently reinforced by the percussion. Dug the string leads, and hell, even the triangle hit at the end (lol).

In short, this track is, as titled, full of win. 5/5 10/10; a new favourite.

BloodyN00b responds:

Thanks, I'm really happy to know that you like it. I have been trying to make a decent orchestral piece for quite some time, and apperently I'm starting to get better :)
I will try to make more music like this in the future.
I am, by the way, a great fan of Final Fantasy, so it's very probable that I subconsciously draw a lot of inspiration from the games :P
