Wow

Hmm... not a big fan of Dragonforce, nor of trance for the most part, but what you did here is pretty good!

I know it's obvious as, well, it's Dragonforce, but it sounds very fitting for a videogame of sorts. For some reason I can see myself playing the intro stage to Megaman X to this :-|

Good work - 5/5

Good stuff!

Song construction is solid, man. Head-bobbin' rhythm, guitars aren't too showoff-ish (big plus in my book), good driving bassline, and (contrary to what you say) the drums lay down great jam rhythm.

Vocals are indeed good, and I love the overall the grungy sound. Pump out summore =)

Yo dude thanks for the uberfast review! This was a live recording done on the first take so there are some minor problems (too much crash cymbal, muddy bass) but overall I think we were able to whip this out pretty fast to a pretty good standard. I do like the song, its our final song at gigs and it seems to round things off nicely for the audience.

Glad you liked the song and thanks a lot for the review :)

Hmm

Keep in mind this is just creative criticism, not bashing you by any means.

It was okay for a 'hip hop' song, given the complete lack of a bassline. Try to mix the drumline up a bit as well. The piano has a nice potential, but as it stands it's way too basic and slow. Try throwing at least something in there to shake things up... also, at the very least throw some heavy bass hits into the the mix. I mean, it IS a hip hop song apparently. The song has potential, but as it stands now, even imagining it with vocals it remains too slow, lifeless, and basic.

Good job, though. Brush it up and you'll have a winner. :-) Though I rated it a 7, I gave you a 4 as I'd like to see you take the blanket off this track and give us something completely wonderful.

Meh?

Well, it wasn't as horrible as some covers I've heard. In fact, it wasn't bad at all...

The guitars seemed near-perfect, though the obvious inclusion of the low-end (even if it ends up having to be programmed) would help this track a LOT - it just kinda seemed like a big trebley mashup. Unfortunately I wasn't digging the ending guitar part very much, either. I'd have to say the strong points in the instrumentation were your near-flawless interpretation of the original arrangement and groovy wah pedal. =P

The vocals were pretty nice, not exactly spot-on, but you threw your own flavour into the mix which worked out well (I especially liked the slight distortion). One thing, however; you may consider making or purchasing a pop filter in the future, as those "C"s in the intro were just tearing my eardrums to pieces. Add some more force to your vocals and you'll have it down spot-on.

Overall a very nice cover of a very nice song. Your seamless instrumentation and vocal flavour has earned you an 8/10 along with a 4/5, my good man. Keep it up, give it one final brush-up and you'll have yourself a winner.

Rev-Deadlypudding responds:

Wow thanks! This was one of the first songs that I recorded and I haven't really changed it too much other than adding the Rex drums. You'd be surprised to know the vocals were recorded through a Line 6 Guitar Port with a shitty little Karaoke mic. So to know that my singing was still nice despite the poor vocal equipment is just amazing to hear.

You might also be surprised to know the wah part is bass (though you might have already realized this anyway). I know you mentioned a lack of low-end and I have thought about re-recording the bass since I have more bass options on my Guitar Port. Overall, I'm very pleased with your review and will certainly keep your suggestions in mind to perhaps change some things around later.

Thanks again for the thoughtful review.

Awesome

Ignore the zero bombers, this is a pretty damn good cover. Tone seemed a little... erm... "off" (in that it sounded like you were playing in a metal bucket) at times, but overall just plain badass. Great job - I hope you're plannin' on gettin' the rest of the instruments in here, as this would make an awesome cover tune.

Ehh

I spent the first minute or so anticipating the bass line, which, to my dismay, never came. This could be a good demo or experiment (awesome "glitch" programming)... it just seems very sporadic and lacking in an actual "beat," per se. If you were to go thru, add a good bass line / rhythm, maybe clean up some of the randomness, and use pieces of this as a lead of sorts, it could be pretty cool. Giving it a 4 and an 8 for now for its potential.

madnessassault responds:

yer i would but its a rave song and thats what their like... but i know a good base would be good.

Nice

Loved the mood change halfway through - good job keeping the overall "tone" but mixing it up with a little more uplifting rhythm.

Very rhythmatic song; I could easily hear it being played during a "tragic" part of a movie or a game - the latter part, especially.

Great job with the intro, awesome job overall. Got any vocals planned for this?

SymbolCymbal responds:

thank you very much. Glad you liked it.. im still wondering why its geting good reviews. lol

Good stuff...

Even though I really couldn't see it being used in Pokemon (okay, well, maybe just a little), it's your interpretation and that's what matters eh? Still a pretty nice little 8-bit jig. Could very see this having been used in some NES game. Not sure if this is an edit or an original, but good work nevertheless.

IbeSm responds:

Yeah, it was my interpretation. And to clear things up, its original, no real infulence from pokemon besides the idea :).

NBC?

Whoever told you it sounded Halloween-ish... was correct, sir. The overall rhythm reminds me of something you'd hear on Nightmare Before Christmas. Great stuff.

Loved the leads, loved the orchestra, and the whole song had a great overall flow. I could hear this being played in a "dungeon" on some kind of old-school SNES era RPG. Great stuff. 5/5 9/10

Oh wow

This 'tune rocks my socks, man. Takes me back to the days of playing a Super Nintendo for the first time (in a funky way)... has almost a midi-ish quality (especially in the beginning), while at the same time having the FL Studio sound about it. Whatever you did, it's great. 5/5 9/10

Tantalis329 responds:

Thank you very much (and awesome icon by the way)
